When was the last time you reassured your kids that no matter what happens in their life, you will be there? Do they know that even if they fail a test in school, do drugs, get pregnant, kill somebody, the one person standing next to them is YOU?!!
When you tell your kids you better do good on that test or else, or don’t you dare get into any kind of trouble, or ever worst, "if that was you doing that I would disown you", guess what? The minute they get into any kind of trouble, the last person they will think about is you.
Let's think about that for a minute! So, our kids fucked up!! We did and they will. When it happens, who's the first person you want to pop up in their head? You ? or the dumb boyfriend, the rebellious girlfriend or even better, a stranger that is more than willing to help?
I teach my kids to be good, they are very good, but growing up they will make new friends, and soon be on their own. If you teach them that no matter what, you will be there for them, even if they are thousands of miles away, when shit hits the fan it will be your phone that rings.
